Drew is coming to visit!
He has a Very Important Birthday coming up next week and I have been noodling over what to get him for weeks. In the end a plane ticket to Los Angeles seemed like the perfect fit. He was happy about it and today I locked it in! He hasn’t been here to visit in, errrrr … three years? It was right after I moved in to this place in the hills, so yeah, more like three and a half years plus a month or two.
Also, that was exactly the last time the guest room had a guest. So there’s that.
With the situation in there you may think this makes me more nervous and perhaps it should, #letsbehonest, but I’m the opposite. I’m super excited and happy. Instead of putting in all this effort into cleaning that room just for my own personal satisfaction, it’s way more fun to have a guest coming and to be preparing for a real live human to enjoy the luxury of space that I will (hopefully, fingers crossed) create through my decluttering efforts.
SO MUCH TO DO THOUGH. For reals. I have put off a zillion and one tasks and they all somehow lead back to that room. Likely because they are piled up in there. For example, I bought a fancy Apple time machine/router thingy months and months and months ago and it has been sitting in that room untouched since that date. I need to plug it in, do the stuff to make it work, and set up a new home and guest wifi. It’s a perfect example of one item on the long list of tasks I see when I walk into that room. It will feel so good to have all that done and out of my mental space.
Hmmm, there’s a thought — how much mental space all the clutter and unfinished projects take up in my brain. I think they also take space in my soul, because it weighs on me even when I’m not looking at it.
Well ain’t nobody got time for all that. It’s time to tackle this thing.
I’m going in! T minus a few weeks until my guest arrives!
